Last I heard he was in a nursing home. That has been the situation for about 2 years or more.

Few nursing homes are known for their tremendous wi-fi reception. :( They're mainly interested in getting the residents to sit quietly in groups, staring blankly at each other.
When last seen, about 12 months ago, he was in a nursing home in Atlanta, Texas, confined to bed in an end room that had poor wi-fi reception, he wasn't able to do much typing and was reported as not having much interest in writing due to deteriorating health. Checks of obits for the area do not show him being listed in the time since, so it's assumed he's still bed bound in the nursing home.
