Many years ago (well, 2017), Terry Pratchett's hard drive with his unfinished stories was crushed, as per his final wishes, by a steamroller.

I remember thinking at the time, "Yeah right, I really doubt the publisher never took a copy beforehand..."

I may even have mentioned my cynicism at the time here on these forums.

Anyway, as I was perusing a bookshop, I spotted a newly released book of 'unfinished work' by TP....

So, it took almost ten years for either the publisher to break, or the family to decide that they needed the money more, and whip out the copy taken before the drive was crushed....

Do you mean "A Stroke of the Pen: The Lost Stories"?

A Stroke of the Pen: The Lost Stories is a 2023 posthumous book containing a collection of rediscovered short stories written by Terry Pratchett for the Western Daily Press and Bucks Free Press newspapers under his own name as well as under his pseudonyms "Patrick Kearns" and "Uncle Jim". Seventeen of the twenty stories were initially published between 1970 and 1975; of the three remaining stories, one is from 1966, one from 1967, and the last story in the collection is from 1984.

So they didn't come from the crushed drive. There's a lot more in the article than the first paragraph I quoted.
