After posting in another thread that I hardly ever get "comments", today I got three, on different stories, and old ones at that. Two of them were from the same person, so I think somebody might have just discovered my stories. That's always a thrill.

Happened to me several times, especially during the years I couldn't write myself. I would stumble on a story and find it interesting, and immediately checked out the other stories of that author.

One thing I have noticed is that when I post a new story, older stories using the same pen name get an uptick in weekly downloads.

That's your fault for posting a story that appeals to readers.

Don't be so harsh. Some of us have made that mistake too...

I love posts, even when they tell me what a dumb bitch I am.

Feedback, even negative feedback, means that readers care about the story, as again, hate isn't the opposite of love, as you truly can't hate anything you didn't once hate. So the opposite of both love and hate (flip sides to the same coin) is utter indifference.

So, if you take it with that consideration, the fact they're so angry is a sign of love (temporarily taking the story in a direction they don't particularly prefer). What's worse is a deafening silence, leaving you wondering, "Did any care, or not?"
