Plural for Ardmore

rustyken ๐Ÿšซ

Ardmore is a type of cabinet. It is an alternative to a closet. I thought if you had more than one it would be Ardmores, but that word creates a spelling error. A search on the web yields no useful result. So I thought I would lay the question before this knowledgable group. Is Ardmores the plural for Ardmore? My current solution is the say 'Ardmore cabinets'.

'Ardmore cabinets'.

I believe this is correct way to say it.

Google showed me this for Ardmores - The plural of Ardmore in English is Ardmores.

As a proper noun designating multiple distinct places, neighborhoods, or villages (such as the various townlands in Ireland or neighborhoods in the US), adding an "-s" is the standard convention

I've never seen that word before and a Google search doesn't yield any usage of that word with that meaning.

I believe the word you are looking for is armoire, a type of wardrobe. And the plural would be armoires.

You are correct. I was looking thinking of armoire. Apparently led astray by mispronouncing it.

Thanks?

Ardmore is a city in Pennsylvania.

There are nine other cities or communities in the US with that name - with the largest one located in Oklahoma. There are also several locations named Ardmore in Scotland and Ireland.

And a Scottish whisky

And a region of the Scottish highlands (which has lent its name to many places in the USA), where that Scotch is distilled. I'm not keen on it though, being a Highland whisky it's too peaty for my tastes, I prefer Speyside whiskies.

Again, all proper nouns, which have their own rules (ex: Tom Collinses, Chevies, Johns).

I had to look it up, but "Ardmore" is a type of cabinet, so that is the proper form, unlike "Settees" instead of "Settee couch". The first is a descriptive adjective while the other is a "proper" couch name. ;)

Well I guess my memory is not as bad as I thought. I attempted to look up Ardmore and all I found were places. As to looking it up I presume I didn't phrase the search appropriately.
