I'm guessing that like a lot of others, I like to listen to music as I write/edit. Headphones on. World around me shut out. Writer mode activated.
Now, I'm 51, so for most of my life, this has meant putting on a CD. Then we started downloading tracks. Now, my two kids (20 & 14) would die if I cancelled our family spotify subs. They'd lynch me, I think.
And I'm just as bad. But the nature of Spotify means you tend to listen to 'tracks' rather than 'albums', by which I mean a collection on songs released together as whole and intended to be listened to in the order determined by the artist. My Wrapped for last year (aside from giving me a 'listening age' of 75, which I'm still bitter about) showed my 'most listened to album' was Taylor Swift's new one, which I listened to for a grand total of 35 mins - meaning not even all the way through once.
So this year, I've resolved to listen to more albums, as albums are intended to be listened to. I've got a list of classics from my youth (feels wrong to refer to "What's the Story (Morning Glory)" as a classic, but stil...).
In the past month I've been enjoying Luke Combs "The Way I Am", and I had a very pleasant stroll around park last weekend listening to Ella Langley's "Dandelion".
So... I'm looking for recommendations for new and classic albums that are worth my attention. Anything genre, any time period.
Just for reference, so you can see the sort of music I enjoy, here's the link to my automatically updated playlists which list my most listened to tracks for the past 4 weeks, 6 months and 1 year.
So, which albums should I give some attention to the next time I sit down to edit.
