Purge Variants

Vincent Berg 🚫 3/31/2025, 2:48:37 PM

Again, trying to move beyond the whole "Purge" topic, since I had to flush several of my current WIP, I'm now considering my own adult-only variety to those same stories.

Obviously, they wouldn't be the same as the originals, yet they'd retain most of the same story elements. Thus while the romantic relationships would be strictly adult, the teasing friendly banter from their children would still remain, virtually the same as before, which would then allow the same teenagers to carry on their own affairs off-screen, so they too could better relate to what the adults are going through, and provide further grist to their friendly teasing banter.

But I've always appreciated both non-traditional plots and non-traditional relationships, so in this case, those adult relationships are also multi-person, each of who isn't a traditional relationship (i.e. no one wants to 'get married' and settle down forever, as each has their own careers and thus needs more freedom), yet they still want a longer-term, rather than short-term flings. They just don't desire a marriage contract.

And, when the heat on the server's finally eases, I can easily resume the earlier stories, while also keeping the later, more recently developed stories. Plus, with more adult characters, you also have more younger teens for each, so you also have the teens commiserating, encouraging the adults to 'spread their wings' and further exploring their options, as they're all now further connected to each other.

Certainly an entirely different storytelling approach, which also creates additional new options. Just something to consider.

One of my posted stories, and several (many) WiP contain teen (under 18) girls, and older (30's +) men; as well as prostitution, and/or other forms of commercial sex.

My "solution" is to merely omit explicitly stating the age of any character(s) under age 18 who engage in "on screen" sex.

While part of my stories are intended to be porn stories, and merely entertaining. Part of my intentions are to present emotional issues related to surviving combat, and women surviving circumstances resulting in their Choice albeit with (at least to them) "no other options" than to use sex to earn income, and/or obtain better living circumstances.

@Marius-6

A common theme, especially in Apocalyptic or Post-Apocalyptic stories, of which I've written a few. Though for many other genres, it tends to limit your story's potential reader base (i.e. too depressing or too offensive to those your 'objectifying' as being the 'weaker', more defenseless sex, willing to 'accept' such a fate without fighting like hell to defend themselves).

It makes for a powerful, dramatic story, yet generally, you want as many readers as possible, not as few.

Again, in those I did write, a strong protagonist (of either sex) allows those women more options, so they too, can be just as strong and fearsome and not just feckless victims.

But as always, there's no one way to write any story, so you focus on your readers, while I'll focus on mine. As every reader has their own preferences, and those are who support us all.

The rules will change in a post apocalyptic scenario. But you're not allowed to explore that truth. Who knew I'd be so strongly agreeing with Jordan Peterson!? Especially since he would eliminate all of my current writing....
Be careful of too much order. Be careful of too much chaos.
Because true life requires both in an exquisite ballance...
