In a WIP, I have a narrator who is a participant in most of the scenes. How do you write about facial expressions for the narrator, since, presumably, the narrator cannot see their own face.

Depends on how specific you want to be.
I know I was grinning like a fool/frowning/shocked/surprised
(someone) next to me reached over and closed my mouth.
You can feel your face, so you can write stuff like "my eyes widened" or "my jaw tightened."
Another character can say something about you. It can be to you, like, "I've never seen you blush before," or it can be to a third person, like, "I think he likes what you're doing. Look at the bulge in his pants!"
How not to do it: :-)
He was sporting a supercilious grin that made me want to punch him into the next century, then I realised I was looking into a mirror.
