Just for kicks, I sampled some novel-pocketbook books (sorting by highest score first). Many were dated, using words like "groovy" and "chicks," but I guess that's understandable. But then I read:
Her nipples were hard and erect. They were the size and color of fresh strawberries…
The size of strawberries? The author was describing her as sexy, not a freak. Oh, and she was only five feet tall.
Authors used to earn a living writing that stuff.
