I seem to recall a thread here discussing words commonly beginning 're' where the prefix is unnecessary and sometimes even nonsensical. I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.
Cheers,
AJ

They can't be redirected until they've been directed, which they haven't been yet because they're looking for someone to give them an initial direction to follow.

I think that was the rationale behind the thread.
But I'm beginning to wonder whether my memory is playing tricks on me and I'm actually getting confused with a thread on words like 'irregardless'.
:-(

I can't even think of one.
Spelt Reborn.
I'm well aware of that, but it was done to highlight it, in keeping with the thread topic. Switch Blayde could not think of a nonsensical Re application. You are only born once, whereas you can re-apply something, or re-tie it or re-adjust...
Edited: To spell a name right...
Reborn is more metaphorical or symbolic rather than literal, unless you believe in reincarnation.
It works in fantasy, though. The Dragon Reborn: A specific soul who lived a specific life is reborn to live that life again, memories and all (mixed with his new life as well).
Edit: Spelling.
Re-born?
"Reborn" is not unnecessary or nonsensical to a Born-Again Christian. Also, other religions believe in reincarnation. And it doesn't have to apply to a person. Found this in the dictionary:
brought back to life or activity.
"the grand concourse stands reborn as a four-star restaurant"
having experienced a complete spiritual change.
"a reborn Catholic"
