Forum: Author Hangout

I'm currently reading a story and had a question for the author, but there seems to be no way for me to contact him. Is this function only available to paying members? I'm currently not paying for my membership on this site, there's no need for it and I have to watch my money. It's not exactly growing on my back.

There does appear to be some kind of messaging system, apparently I do have an inbox even though it's empty. But there is no way to generate a new message.

Can anyone clarify this?

some authors don't enable the option to be contacted. No idea if paying member or not affects it but I don't believe it matters. Which author and I can check if I can contact them and let you know.

You can't not initiate a new message from the inbox page.

There are two ways to initiate a new message to another member.

There's an envelope icon with every forum post/comment that will initiate a private message to the poster/commenter.

An author's page may have an email link that will initiate a private message to the author. This can be turned on/off, but I forget if it's opt in or opt out.

Outside of this forum, there is no way to initiate a private message to a member who is not an author.
