I have some images that I have multiple versions of, at different sizes. In most cases I want an image to be nearly the width of the page, and for readers to be able to view sufficient details. Some examples: an image of the Diesel locomotive the City of Los Angeles; I want the name printed on the side of the locomotive to be legible. Images of several US soldiers in WWII I want a reader to see the soldiers and some distinctive terrain in the image; such as the beaches of Normandy, or the hedgerows.

That entry needs to be updated. I've since automated the handling of images on the moderators side.
The system has the following constraints:
Max Width: 1000px
Max Height: 2100px
That should fill a high res phone screen at high res.
Some images I obtained from the Wikimedia Commons, and they have no copyright. Others are from the US Army Signal Corps and are in the public domain. Others are digital photos I took while on leave in Europe.

Nothing when submitting them with the story. But keep a record of where you got them and the info about them in case we get a DMCA take down request. We'll ask you for that info then.
