I read a wonderful review of a book this morning. In it, the reviewer mentions a developing relationship in the book and describes it as "the kind of is-this-romantic-or-is-it-painfully-platonic relationship that will be familiar to most adults." I think that can also be a stage of deteriorating relationships.
By the way, the review also mentions the use of song lyrics, a topic that has been discussed here. The book's author apparently made his up, and well enough that people might be sad the music doesn't exist.
