Amazon, Hypocrisy and Theft

Dinsdale ๐Ÿšซ

There have been a number of threads here where authors have complained about Amazon permitting theft of stories, a fair number of them from this site.
Here's a new angle. If Amazon finds copies of one of "their" books on a "pirate site", they are liable to remove it from Kindle for violation of the exclusivity agreement.
The article has quotes from authors who were upset about having their stories removed, so a complaint by the author is obviously not necessary.
Would telling Amazon that SOL is a Pirate Site be enough to get them to withdraw stolen stories (eventually)?

Probably, but it would also hurt SOL authors that trying to sell their works on Amazon.

No, don't do that. To many bad repercussions.

It doesn't have to be a pirate site, depending upon what programs they're signed up for. For some of their agreements, you're not allowed to have the work available anywhere else for a cheaper price. Free is cheaper.

They care a hell of a lot more about someone breaking their agreements regarding $ than they do about determining whether something is plagiarized.

If you see something of yours stolen, report it as available for free here. ( With a side note that it's plagiarized ) As often as not, it will come down within hours. If you get a couple three of them, they'll nuke the whole account.

Actually, if it's available for free elsewhere where the full story is available to non-registered members, that works better.

It's a never ending game of whack-a-mole, though. If someone has stolen it once, you can bet they or someone else will steal it again and try to profit off of it. Get a little satisfaction from taking one down once in a while, but if you obsess over it, it will be all you do.

Where is AssTr when you need it? Posting there as pretty much unformatted text would be sufficient.
