Readers that can't - or don't - read

StarFleet Carl ๐Ÿšซ

Why do we bother to post blogs regarding what we're going to do, or include in both the start and ending notes what's going on regarding them timeline of publishing things, or what dates you ARE publishing things, when readers don't bother to read them, and you end up getting fifteen - twenty PMs about what you've ALREADY POSTED!!!!

Yes, I know that's a run-on vent. Thank you and continue with your regularly scheduled Monday.

@StarFleet Carl

To inform your readers of something. For example, I'm finishing a novel that I've been writing for over a year. That means I haven't posted and "out of sight, out of mind." It's to let your readers know you're still ticking and that something is coming. Like the pre-orders we recently talked about. It's marketing.

The author can't help if people don't read it. Same as a preface. If the author feels one is necessary, he'll write it. But most readers don't read the preface. And then they get confused reading the novel because they missed something important in the preface that addressed that. That's the reader's problem, not the author's. Same with blogs.

If you were grousing about human readers, you would have written 'Readers who...', so I presume you're referring to your canine, feline, avian etc readers.

Some readers may not read them, but some do. I know, because I'm one of them.

Or to put it another way, how many more PMs would you get if you didn't post first?

@StarFleet Carl

Dear StareFlat Kari.

Quit whining and just get busy posting. Or course we don't read blogs, we want to read stories, and we want every chapter posted BEFORE we finish the last. What is more we want stories that include everything we enjoy and utterly avoid any squicks we have, no matter how abstruse.

ps

We are far too busy to bother with the scoring thingy and only bother to comment if we are bitching about an obscure grammatical error, even though we ourselves struggle to spell our own name correctly... in crayon.

You did want a truthful response, didn't you?

Or some really obscure technical detail that only a miniscule percentage of the population would actually know (Like how you mixed up the fourth fuse down on an L69 fuse board on a Boing Stratocruiser with the fifth one down...)

Since it's a derivative of the B-29 Superfortress and depending on your definition of 'fire', one could could say "Pretty fucking big" A couple of 50 cals, a twenty mill cannon and a really bad day for a lot of people in the form of one eleven foot long and two and a half foot wide cylinder....

You've got that backwards. I don't hang out with them. I allow them to hang out with me. Eventually some of them - but not AJ - may learn something from basking in the reflected glow of my greatness.

Granted, MOST of that glow is due to exposure to excessive radiation, so I resemble Doctor Manhattan at times (No, Joy, I only SLEEP naked, I don't run around all day with my schlong hanging out), but that's another topic of discussion. (Damned dilithium crystals!)

The greater the body's size

Last year when I went for a check-up, my doctor told me that due to my height and weight, I could now be considered morbidly obese. I don't think he liked the little fist pump I made, saying, "Yes, another check mark on my bucket list!"

I'm 6'2", 297 lbs.

I could now be considered morbidly obese.

I told my doc when I stopped growing taller I had to grow in another direction.

He said 'could be considered' rather than 'was' because he recognised the effect on your weight of the alloy that makes you bulletproof ;-)

You told me you don't 'hang out', so AJ is correct, people do gravitate towards you, or at least are attracted by your gravity well...

Janie was known to do the show with a few drinks in her at times, and Cowboy Bob was tapping her before he got married. Although she was more into younger folks.

I do not PM authors about schedules or posting except when there has been zero activity for many months. I only ask when I am deciding if I should keep a particular story in my queue. Usually, I wait till the story is complete before reading so the schedule is of little importance.

Book five is in my queue and when it is completed, I will start reading. I may read as posted or buy at Bookapy the completed story. I probably won't decide 'till I have read what has been posted at that time.

You are an author I follow so at least once a week I check the list of followed authors and catch up on blog posts, updates etc. Of course, all those free accounts do not have all these tools available to them so more effort is required to stay informed.

For the entitled crowd who expect and demand that you give them what they want when they want it, fuck 'em. I have no sympathy for anyone who does not appreciate the gift of entertainment you authors provide.

They just want to talk to their favorite author. Jeez, give them a break.

I've stopped giving a damn. The more folks whine and bitch here, the further I slide into a different site.
