Premier stories

PotomacBob ๐Ÿšซ

In another thread, a reader requests a particular type of stories then says, "please, no premier membership stories."
I have a premier membership, and when I look at a list of stories, I don't see anything that would distinguish premier stories from any other stories. Am I missing something?

Unless I'm wrong they need a paid membership. So maybe they're just on free street. From my understanding the ratio of free:paid is very low, so unless it's something else obvious I'd be at a loss

Yes.

I have a paid premiere membership.

In story lists in the classic theme under the title in the title column I see "(premier members only)"

Stories can be be premier-only for two reasons:
- the author requested it
- the author has been missing for n years (n is heading from 4 to 3 at present) and all of their stories were "archived".

In the first case - as Dominions Son said - the only indication is the "(premier members only)" in the index.
In the second case, if you look at the list of authors - https://storiesonline.net/library/authors.php?let=L for example - you will see that a lot of the author entries have a kind of "chessboard background". They have been archived.

Moghal resurfaced a few months ago after years away. His new story was initially premier-only until he realised what was going on and got the flag removed. The archiving process is automatic but the un-archiving process appears to be manual.

Even looking at archived authors (using what you describe above), if I look at the author's list of stories I see the "(premier members only)".

You should get that for any story on any story list regardless of why it's premier only.

If the index entry for that author is "chessboarded" then there's no point in looking further, but yes - if you do go further then "(premier members only)" is a honking great further clue.

In the classic theme on my monitor the "chessboarding" is really light and hard to see.

Not quite - the chequered background is applied when the author goes onto the 'To Be Archived' list, but their stories are still non-premier for approx seven more days (until the author is removed from the 'To Be Archived' list). Additionally, if any of the stories are multi-authored, then they remain non-premier until the last author goes on to the 'To Be Archived' list.
