Pity voting is restricted. I think something is lost in any vote that doesn't get a wide population. More voters would mean a reduction in the margin of error that all polls have.
And it might be interesting to see if there's a difference between the voting patterns of those that pay and those like me that are living on government pensions and, like some of the authors, seem to be broke all the time.

Curious, I submitted a story for the Halloween contest on the 15th of the month but it isn't listed in the contest list of stories...what did I do wrong?

Usually, if you submit something, it will show up in the wizard after you submit it and after it's processed it will show up in the 'manage stories' list.
It was titled "Special Gifts" and I had left a moderator note at the end of submission it was for the contest. Not the end of the world if it wasn't included, I just wanted to know if I had submitted it incorrectly.
You did submit it incorrectly.
To submit a story for the contest, you click the big 'Enter Story in Contest' button surrounded by a yellow box.
If you click the 'New Story', one of the moderators might miss the significance of your note and it will end up just another new story, like what happened in this instance.

Oops. I did a search to find the current Halloween announcement thread. Unfortunately, the search always shows oldest first and I missed that. Sorry.
