Bookapy is now ZBookstore

Lazeez Jiddan (Webmaster)

I moved the adult stuff to a new site. All adult stuff is now under:

https://zbookstore.com/

The experiment with bookapyx.com seem to be too confusing.

SOL authors should now use zbookstore.com.

Links from the site will now point to zbookstore.com.

SOL authors should now use zbookstore.com.

One of my novels on ZBookStore is non-adult so it is also on Bookapy. The ads at the end of my stories on SOL take the reader to ZBookStore except for the non-adult one. Is that your intention?

I need to change the wording of the ads from Bookapy to ZBookStore. But should I leave the non-adult novel ad ("Last Kiss") as Bookapy?

Very good question.

The link in the ads will be updated as the cache for the ads expires.

The ads served to storiesonline.net will all be zbookstore, and only ads served to StoryRoom will be to bookapy.

So, if you've customized the text of the ad, then yes, it should be saying ZBookStore.

So do we need to update links from our websites, etc. to point to the new adult site, or are they preserved?

Is there an icon we can use for ZBookStore for buttons on our website?

If the links are to books directly, then it's optional as the book links will still work and no url change is necessary.

If the link is to the author's page, then yes, that needs changing as the page won't list adult stuff.

Of course, if it's to the whole site, then definitely.

Is there an icon we can use for ZBookStore for buttons on our website?

Yes.

The files are SVG, so you can size them as you wish.

I'll try to catch up. You might want to move Only Time Will Tell over to the new adult place. It's pretty well sexy in a couple of places. Thanks.

Bookapy is now ZBookstore

Does that mean that any link to Bookapy will automatically be forwarded? I just went to the new site, and my non-adult bookshelf was there. I do not care one way or the other, but I want to find my non-adult authors, and the link to Bookapy is no longer on the home page.

@oldegrump

I was curious so I double checked. Turns out that, as far as I can tell off hand, ALL of my stories are back. Not all, but those which were left unscathed after I started retiring my various stories. But my teen-age sci-fi stories and of course the notorious Nowhere โ€ฆ Like Home? area all back. So now I just have to update everything that was once officially behind the SOL firewall but accessible to full site privileges.

As always, thanks Lazeez. I'm am once again duly impressed! He never does anything half-assed, but goes the extra yards to ensure it works properly.

Not sure this is the right place for it, but anyone know why there are a lot of classical novels showing up in Zbooks?
For example, the currently recent novels include
A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce (published 1916)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo (published 1831)
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (published 1847)

I wondered who is profiting from another's work. They are all available in the Gutenberg Project. So someone downloaded them from there and...

I don't see that as profiting from another's work, yes they're on Geutenberg but the Geutenberg books generally have poor formating, I assume the books on Zbookstore had that addressed and they have at least decent cover images added.

Don't think of it as buying a book, you're buying the work to reformat the book.

Lazeez Jiddan (Webmaster)

@Unicornzvi

I'm posting those.

I need to dilute the concentration of sex books on the store. Those books are public domain, so I can use them for this purpose.

There are more that are being posted but don't show up because I back-date them.

Unicornzvi ๐Ÿšซ

@Lazeez Jiddan (Webmaster)

Ah. Interesting.
Can explain why you need to dilute the concentration of sex books? Or is this something that needs to be kept private?

Michael Loucks ๐Ÿšซ

@Unicornzvi

At least in some US jurisdictions (and yes, I know WLPC is not in the US, nor is the proprietor), whether a site is 'adult' is based on content ratios. If you keep the adult to non-adult ratio low enough, you aren't an 'adult' site.

That may or may not be a/the reason, but it's philosophically similar to the 'obscenity' test which revolves around 'taken as a whole' not on specific passages (so the site as a whole vs an individual book).

What Michael said above. Also, can you possibly attract big name authors to a little porn shop?

Belated thanks for the explanation.
If you're open to requests - most of H. Beam Piper's works are public domain, and quite good. Also all of Jules Verne's books.

Also some classic scientific books like Newton's Principia (translated) or Darwin's Origin

H. Beam Piper (28 stories) and Jules Verne (10 stories) are over on SciFi.

Are you amenable to requests? If you find any books by John Dickson Carr (aka Carter Dickson) in the public domain, I think they'd be a good addition to StoryRoom too.

@awnlee jawking

John Dickson Carr

Not in the public domain yet.

The first book will go into the public domain in 2026 (USA), his last in 2073. or if I follow the Canadian copyright rules, all his works will go it to the public domain in 2047.

A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce (published 1916)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo (published 1831)
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (published 1847)

Those are all expired copyrights. Literally anyone could legally publish new editions.
