I* just finished reading it again and was hoping to find some similar stories.
All I can think of is the other stories by the same author, S + M combines so many plot points - several of which she has used in other stories - that it's difficult to look elsewhere.
You may try looking at https://storiesonline.net/d/s9/t6657/long-coming-of-age-or
I think that's the genre close to S&M. :-)
What I am looking for is a long story about a teenager that is subject to a vendetta or terrorist plot. Coming of age is not the main plot desired.
Thank you for the responses.
Rough Diamond by Ernest Bywater is not overly heavy reading but the young man has his well-armed enemies as well as friends. I doubt if it would qualify as coming of age.
Then try Finding Home. by Ernest Bywater. The early sex scenes were a bit off-putting when I read it the first time years ago. Now I enjoy re-reading it as an adventure of a young man learning to live as well as survive.
Shiloah is a well done story of young folk forced to grow up and it is well-worth reading. It is not as light as the other two stories. It is a collaboration between Bywater and The Scot.
If you include gifted teenagers being targeted by government 'terrorists', it opens up a few more possibilities.
Although they may not be long enough for you, my initial suggestions would be Lubrican's 'The Seventh Sense' and Shaddoth's 'Biomancer'.
I'm sure others will be able to suggest other, longer stories along those lines (ElSol?)

MGW's own SW .45 has the vendetta/terrorist plot part, but the main character is in her early twenties, I think.
Shadow of Moonlight's Dreamweaver and sequels might work for you if paranormal elements are okay.
Having looked at some of the story I never got to read (she abandoned it after Chapter 42 for years) try https://storiesonline.net/s/40985/toms-diary by the same author. In my first reply I suggested looking at her other stories, this one is the closest match.
