Story "Second Chance" meets Quantum Leap

I'm not sure if a story like this exists here, but I'd be interested in reading a story kind of like Second Chance where the MC dies and then takes over the body of somebody else that just died (even in a different time/place) but maybe not quite so random with the constantly being targeted for killing and with no idea of what's really going on. Like Quantum Leap where the MC knows why he is being sent when and where is being sent and maybe has an ultimate goal to complete (like stopping some catastrophic event from happening).

Again, I'm not sure if something like this exists or not, but I saw a comment on one of the lost story threads and it reminded me that I had this thought while I was reading Second Chance.

FantasyLover has a story called The Methuselah Complex where the MC when he dies takes over bodies from other dying people but it's not exactly the story line you want.

I started a 'proof of concept' in which the protagonist finds himself in the bodies of complete strangers. By trial and error, he works out that for each new body he finds himself in, he has 24 hours in which to solve a problem otherwise the clock is rewound and he is doomed to repeat the exercise until he gets it right.

He eventually comes across others in the same situation, but finds there's a compulsion against comparing notes.

Sadly, writing is yet again an issue for me so the story is doomed to remain in the hopper, at least until I've finished 'Gay!'.

Like Quantum Leap where the MC knows why he is being sent when and where is being sent

In the only Quantum Leap episode I remember, the MC was sent to Texas where Buddy Holly was writing a song about pigs with the title Piggy Sooey. What he had to correct was to persuade Buddy Holly to turn it into "Peggy Sue."

Yup, Mother of Learning is great and recently finished to a satisfying ending.
(Even if I want to know what happens after it, the world is super interesting.)

'Play it again Sam' by Kublicon on Lit is a fun Ground Hog Day style do over. It doesn't meet the body swap requirements of tbe OP request. The only story I can think of with that is Once More With Feelings by The Night Hawk.
