Reality Escape?

Curious minds and all…

I've been in my house for about 5 years and 4 months. Outside my house walls I have become accustomed to the various "normal" noises. I do not have to "pay attention" to anything but the out of normal sounds.

Not having to pay attention to my immediate reality allows my mind the escape from this reality by reading a near future or long past fantasy tale.

In these tales there are situations of FTL travel or aliens transplanting me back to the far past or a different dimension. Whatever.

You are the protagonist. You! You are living the described life.

What is the best description of your 100% I want that to be me fantasy?

Mine?

Well… among my top 10 this one stands out. The best?

Maybe, but others are as close. Tiny, tiny differences.

What's your single choice?

I would go for Mack from Times 7 by RoustWriter.
Not for his situation, but the ablity to travel the time threads was an interesting concept

If I'm going to be the protagonist, then we're talking limited powers simply because that's where I can see myself. Probably Bohica. It would also give the chance to explore life on the other side of the gender divide, so that's another plus.

I've always found that, due to the inverse relationship of power (ex: the more you use, the less the impact), I prefer this 'law of diminishing benefit' approach, assuming it requires ever more power, the further OR the more often you travel. That way, the stakes in the story also raise, as the more you travel, the less likely your being able to safely return intact, or at all.

Plus, the whole 'life on the other side' has always been a compelling story concept, as having undergone it, the protagonist's whole approach to others often changes too, thus creating better relationships overall.

Here's why I ask these questions...

Without this thread I would have never discovered this tale - or author.

A perfect story? Of course not, but damn good! Were it possible I'd score this one a 9.5!

That is a great story. I have it in my library, and have reread it several time.
