You might also like to browse through the stories of Tedbiker. Absent the 'severe consequences', several of them include stories of protagonists unwillingly becoming carers for slaves. There's also his Devastation Diaries' stories but I'm not a big fan of those.

Thanks for reminding me of Tedbiker, he has some good stories.
I can get along with the basic Idea behind the Devastation Series but dont care much about it.
