Forum: Bug Report and Feature Requests

green dot

Switch Blayde ๐Ÿšซ

I've recently encountered a situation where a thread appears on the Forum with a green dot indicating there is a new post. But there is no new post. In fact, it positions me at one of my posts in the middle of the thread.

I'm finding this happening on the same two threads. And I've noticed that those threads have posts indented. I don't know if the indenting is new or I never noticed it before.

I scroll to the bottom and click on the "All Threads" link. The green dot is gone. But it comes back. So I've tried, when I go back to the list and the dot is gray, clicking the gray dot. It turns green. Then I click on the green dot to turn it to gray. Some time later it's green again with the incorrect positioning and no new post.

It's really annoying.

Considering you are being positioned in the middle, it's probably a threaded view vs flat view issue.

Lazeez recently switched the form view mode from a cookie setting to a server side setting, which threw everyone back to threaded view.

The other possibility is the delay issues that were reported previously. Lazeez said he fixed that, and mostly he did, but I've still seen it crop up a couple of times since.

That's it. How do I change my setting back to flat view?

How do I change my setting back to flat view?

Under the title of the thread, on the right hand, click 'Flat View'.

Yeah, I found it. I went back to your Site Announcement on the subject. I was looking for a Preferences.

I went back to your Site Announcement on the subject

There was no announcement as the functionality is still the same.

What changed was that instead of saving the setting in deletable cookie, I switched it to a server side/all devices setting.

I went to the thread called "Change in the Forum: Threaded topic view" where I found "If you prefer the previous flat view, at the top of each thread there is a link for 'Flat View'."

That's how I found it and was able to change it back.
