While trying to provide some editorial feedback to different authors, I have several times been bitten by either a page reload or a change of url when going to the "Next" page in a long chapter. This blanks out my feedback, which is frustrating.
I'd like to request an enhancement that would retain the contents of my feedback form across pages in the same story until sent or explicitly cancelled.
The quickest and easiest way to handle this is to open a second browser window with either the feedback form in it, or a Message to the author form found by going to the author's page and clicking on the email link near the top left corner of the page.

Ernest has it right. Think of web pages as drop-it-and-leave-it. When you click to the next page everything on the current page is lost. A little can be taken along to the next page with cookies and some local storage but don't expect it to be much. It's mainly used to preserve a login and things like that.
Do what Ernest advised or first type your message in a text editor and copy-past it into the response form just before sending it.

I concur. If I'm getting edits, I'd rather have the option to discuss the points via email than a one liner through the messaging system—which one party or the other may not check for days. :(
