I'd like to be able to mark stories list in the "with potential" section in my library as not of interest to me, or that i've already read them.
I have no idea how the "with potential" section is populated, that would be interesting to know, maybe I can affect it?

They are just "New stories and Updated serials from authors with stories in your library." So, they are new material from authors you are already reading or have put in your library to read later. You can just ignore them altogether.
