Question 1… where is the control that allows me to set text width on the MacBook? I like it near screen wide. IIRC, the previous setting was ~97% width.

Question 2… why does the phone screen keep changing from mobile mode to desktop mode without me selecting DT mode? Yes, it does change back when I select mobile, but it changes automatically without my input.
You have one device profile. So, 1 set of settings. It will be used throughout the account. So, any changes would be reflected on all the devices.
Question 3… Lazeez, when do you expect the current code to be stabilized so my settings are 'locked in' and do not change between each access to your sites?
The code for story display has not changed. Only the listings have undergone a big change.
Since you're a premier member, you have access to multiple device profiles.
So, in order to do what you want, and now we're talking only about the story text display, on your MacBook, and let's consider it your default reading device, click the above link.
I will show you your current story display settings.
Click edit.
Make any changes you want, including text width.
Once satisfied with the look of the text, click 'Save Changes'.
Now this is your MacBook's style.
If you stop here, then this same style will be on your phone too.
If it's not good for your phone, then leave the MacBook alone and use your phone.
On your phone, click the above link (or go to the My Account page -gear icon on the phone- and click 'Change' next to 'Story Display Settings').
You'll see the style that you previously set on the MacBook.
At the bottom, there is a button labeled 'Create an Additional Style', click it.
Enter a style name, let's say "iPhone Style" or whatever else you may like.
Make the changes you want to make it perfect on the phone (whatever changes you make in the controls will be reflected below.)
Once satisfied, click 'Save Changes'.
Now you should have a separate profile for the phone. The new profile, since it was created on the phone, is locked to the phone and will be used automatically on the phone.
Don't edit the styles on the wrong device. So never edit the default style on the phone and never edit the iPhone style on the MacBook. If you do, the system will lose lock and it won't know which style to use on which device.
