Possible oddity or bug in advanced searches

whitedruid ๐Ÿšซ

I have an advanced search that is a saved search, when I select it and run as saved, it shows 66 results (at the moment).

Search is configured to display sorted by score descending.

While viewing the results, if I change sorting to author, results change from 66 to 269.

If I change back to score, it's back to 66 results.

Color me very confused by this behavior.

I think the 269 might be the more correct search results as many of the titles are unfinished and incomplete.

My saved search doesn't have ignore incomplete selected, though it does have ignore in progress selected.

Can anyone confirm this behavior in their own profile?

Note this is seen in multiple of my saved searches. Not tested all, but confirmed it happened on at least two of them.

There was some code that shouldn't have been there anymore since I removed the support for more than one author per story.

I removed it and it should give consistent results.

Firefox on iOS
Tested the search results and still got the anomaly results, 67 sorted by score and 171+ sorted by anything else.
Don't know how to force reload on mobile device like hitting cod reload on desktop, but update for Firefox was pending so installed and retested.
No differences in results, sorted by score gets smaller results and more with sorting by other.

If this is pending update to production then I can happily wait patiently.

Sort by score is unique in that it would exclude stories that don't have enough votes to display a score.

In the previous reply I focused on the change to 'author' instead of the change 'from score'.

It's an advanced search that specifically asks for stories that have a minimum and maximum score. Has other selection criteria set or not as well.

But once results are in, change the sort order and goes to very different returns. Change back, original results.

But I think the point of some titles not having the public viewing of score is the right place to be looking.

The weird thing is I can see if all unscored were suddenly popping up, but the results count are different depending upon what score my search is based on.

Searching for 8+ yields results around 63 titles matching my score and other criteria, 151 or more when I choose a new sort order.

At the same time, the search for scores from 7-8 goes from 150ish to over 720ish when sorting differently.

And while it's difficult to do a comparison, many, perhaps all, the new results are showing an empty score value.

But it's not just letting all unscored stories go through, or each of the searches would have increased by the same amount. I think there might be a public presented score and an internal score that limits the results to generally meet the criteria of the original search, while sorting by score further limits by only public score while the other sort doesn't.

There was a small bug. I fixed it, I think. Try now.

Just tried this. I put a max and min for Score, and a min Vote count.
No other search terms.
It returned 15706 results.
All sort options returned the same answer.

Confirmed fixed. Same results for each search regardless of sort type.

Thx
