I keep getting email confirmation error messages whenever I send feedback, but I already confirmed my email and then found a second message and confirmed that one too. How can I fix this, and are the authors actually receiving my comments?

Probably yes. The email confirmation system requires a confirmation every time it's activated. If an author ticks the box for that to happen when someone sends them an email, every email to them asks for confirmation, even when it's a few from the same person. Not all authors tick the box, but many do.

That's not correct.
The email confirmation system requires one confirmation every 90 days for free members. For premier members it requires one confirmation each subscription period if over 90 days. So for those who subscribe for six months it's one confirmation during those six month and same for the one year.

So, as a premiere member, how/why did I get a confirmation email a week or so ago? Not bothered overly much about it, but curious.
I guess that author was the first one I sent feedback to in this subscription period that required it?

Probably.
The system doesn't send a confirmation request without you trying to send a feedback message to an author that refuses anonymous feedback.
When you send a feedback, the system checks the author's record to see if they accept anonymous, if not, then it looks to see if your address needs confirmation or not. If it does, it will send you a message. When you do confirm, the system checks your status, if it's premier then it looks at the expiration date and if it's less than 90 days, it confirms your address for 90 days. If your membership expires more than 90 days later, the system confirms your email until your membership's expiry date.

You just need to click the last link you get if you have several.
If you don't click the link and try to send feedback again, then for each feedback you try you'll get one more confirmation message until you click one. You need to confirm your email address once per 90 days period.
