I had serious problems like that with Mullvad VPN. For the longest time (i.e. many years), it was perfect, then suddenly, it was blocked all over the place.
I switched to OVPN and have far fewer problems (mostly resolved by simply changing the exit node country between Sweden, Finland, and the US; my default is Sweden).
