Minor problem with text sanitizer in forum replies

LupusDei 🚫

It seems that any use of "less than" symbol (aka html tag opening symbol) unconditionally truncate the response text without any warning or recourse (the following input is gone from editing screen as well).

I believe this to be (relatively?) recent change, although cannot be certain about that to any degree.

Chrome on Android (doubt that may matter in this case though).

To illustrate, including editing the same post this had happened to less that five times yet, or in numeric representation

Try using & lt (without the space)

1 &lt 2

Nope, that didn't work.

It's been like this as long as I can remember, except possibly in the early days of the forum when people could make a mess of the page by not closing the tags properly.

HTML entities need to be closed with a ; so that would be & l t ; giving here < which also seems to be redacted if not followed by a space (I'd guess the HTML entity processing is performed before the unallowed tags rejection)

It's possible, but somehow I haven't encountered it previously. Well... < 4 ... having a space after is enough to escape it? Indeed.
