Cover picture for 'Full Frame' gone

Updated:

My personal settings are correct in allowing pictures. The cover picture for Aroslav's 'Full Frame' simply shows an empty box with RESWLPC.COM in it. Note that at the end of the story, his link to Bookapy DOES show the picture.

On both my PC AND on my cell phone.

EDIT TO ADD: This is on TWO different PCs now. I will see if logging out and logging back in to SOL helps.
Another ETA: It did NOT. This is the Image address I get:
http://reswlpc.com/i/2009

Windows 10 AND 11 AND iOS, Duck-Duck-Go

Same as you describe here as well.

So... "It's not you..."

The image was well migrated to :

https://res.wlpc.com/i/2009/fullframecover.jpg

However, the img src lack a data-image-file="fullframecover.jpg" attribute

and the osrc adress lack a "s" in http:// and a "." in reswlpc.com

Nice new script with no image preload by the way :)

So, does that just mean something changed server side, and it'll take a while to migrate through? Or is this an actual error in the coding that Laz or Aroslav needs to fix?

Due to the increase in images being submitted to the site, we needed a better image management system than we had before, so last week I rewrote the image management system to be database-based and migrated image links to this new system. However, just like everything, I introduced some bugs.

If you ever see the image URL to start with: http://reswlpc.com/ instead of https://res.wlpc.com/i/xxxx you should report it. A glitch occurred during migration and few links retained the development server's URL.

Older images were all in the /img directory on the image server. We've moved away from that as it was more labour intensive to put the images on the server (in the author's folder) and populate the html in the files. Now it's easier for us.

The new tag is now < img src="https://res.wlpc.com/i/[image id]" width="image width" height="image height" data-image-file="[original file name]" alt="[could be the file name and could be a description that we enter manually]" >

The images with oldsrc property are the old images migrated to the new system with the old directory-based URL in place just in case something gets screwed up during migration.

The 'osrc' property is a for those who have images hidden by default.

Do you really want the expense of that? It's a story site, not a picture site.

I'm not talking about Bookapy book covers. But SOL.

Every dead tree book has a cover, most of the time even a different one with each new press run. With the introduction of Bookapy the number of covers on SOL has slightly increased too. Considering this increase in the total number of images on SOL Lazeez made a good choice in redesigning the handling of images. The number of stories with illustrations is still very, very low on SOL compared to the number of books with a cover image so SOL is not going to be a picture site.
In the unlikely event that the number of books with lots of images increases this will most likely become a separate genre and eventually a separate site. I don't see that happening any time soon.

I wasn't talking about book covers. I said those are required. I thought the images that were brought up were pictures attached to stories on SOL. Illustrated stories.

I assume we are talking about one author here, someone who has posted almost 1100 short stories where afaik they all contain at least one image.
It feels like abuse but he's not doing anything which is not permitted and it is surprising how many downloads those flash stories get, a quick browse showed that one had over 5000 in a few days and I did not even bother sorting on download-count.

I didn't hear anyone complaining when Six Times a Day with 3500+ images was posted, so why now? Both STaD and Mat's stories have images that fit the type of stories on SOL with the only difference being the size of the stories. I honestly don't see the problem.

I honestly don't see the problem.

If you remove the images, STaD is still a story (Told in over 4 million words).

If you remove the image from a certain author's postings, the post would qualify for deletion as either "Not a story" or "Deleted because incomplete and Irrelevant".
