I don't see stories where a main character, male was my first thought, is caught cheating, has their relationship break up, and then moves on with someone else. It happens in real life all the time but I don't see it in fiction that often.
Some people do only cheat once and then, regretting it, eventually find someone else to spend their life with or even work out their problems with their partner.
I've seen stories where the MC is cheated on and then forgives their partner but none where the MC is the cheater and has to struggle with regret and guilt.
