I don't know what the heck you said. Are you saying that there are such stories already on the site? I was referring to a possible story idea based on Shakespeare's works

:D richardchagrin is our very much appreciated SOL clown who often manages to come up with witty puns very quickly.
To explain: there is an author with the pen name Richard the Third.

@Keet

I found that out. It still wasn't funny though. I was hoping someone would do something actually constructive rather than making an admittedly somewhat funny joke.

One hundred and eleven Astronomical Units is the distance to @richardshagrin's planet of origin.

Are you trying to take over from Richard? :D

It would have to be a very alternate universe. Richard winning at Bosworth could easily have happened, but no way could he have fucked/impregnated his niece without that becoming public knowledge.
Which niece are you thinking of?
- George's Margaret (12 years old at Bosworth)?
- One of Edward's daughters: Elisabeth (19), Cecily (16), Anne (9), Catherine (6) or Bridget (4)?
- Anne's daughter Anne (9)?
- Elizabeth's Elizabeth (17), Anne (9) or Catherine (8)? (she and her husband were still alive then)

I'm talking about a Shakespeare Play Richard III AU. Not a historical one.

http://shakespeare.mit.edu/richardiii/full.html

That one. It's a plot point that Richard wants to marry Elizabeth of York. I've always been curious about what would happen if he actually succeeded in his plans

Gee, if there was only a website that would allow novice writers to create their own stories so they could share them with others around ...

And to point out why this OP is in the Story Ideas forum.

Personally, given that family's history and predilections, I would go for Margaret or on of the Annes rather than either of the Elizabeth's.

Real Life predilections, or Shakespearian? The way the family (and Richard in particular) was portrayed in the play had very little to do with reality.

Real world. They seemed to prefer them very young to start. Though 9 yo might be pushing it considerably.

Kids were sometimes married at - for example - 3 years old, although in those cases both partners would be of a similar age and the actual ceremony at least a decade down the road.
Things got interesting when one of the partners died.

@karactr

Real world could see marriage by proxy at that age, with consummation at age 12 or later.
There were a few 12 & 13 year olds married to princes or kings of England in that era. Some marriages were successful, with children and many years together. At least one queen had her husband killed for preferring men to her.
Old Richard Crookback would have had extreme difficulties in marrying his niece. England was still a Catholic country and to marry a niece would have been unacceptable to the church. he had his nephews declared illegitimate and then murdered them. I doubt he could afford any chance of a claim of incest hanging over his heirs.
He would also be dealing with the fall out of the rebellion against him and the subsequent simmering resentment among those who lost family, lands or titles in the war and aftermath. A dynastic marriage would be needed. But who would sacrifice a daughter to the Hunchback of Westminster? Which lesser families would encourage a younger daughter to become a mistress in the hope of preferment for their sons?
Would he create the Royal College of Chiropractors, resulting in surgeons being on the outside of medical high society and still the realm of barbers in modern times?
King John was allegedly a serial rapist of his lords wives, yet introduced ther idea of the King's courts of justice for commoners. There is plenty of room for writing hypocrisy and perversion in the British kings, even before you get to the current german usurpers and their dubious connections.

@Radagast

Richard III may or may not have killed his nephews.
The other main candidate was Lord Buckingham, a close friend (Richard thought) who is known to have been at the castle where they were lodged immediately before he launched a rebellion. His post was Lord Constable of England and came with wide-ranging powers but his lineage was of the highest and he wanted more.

Interesting. The yellow press has always sold the mrder story, to the point that I accepted it long ago. Shame on me, as whenever I have had direct knowledge of a story in the news, what they have printed was false or twisted. I should have known better and checked my facts.

You need to find an author who likes writing in both the 'celebrity' and 'fan-fic' as well as historical fiction.

Interesting turn this has taken....

But I was more doing it kinda like all that fanfic where the bad guys win. The Shakespeare play ended a certain way but whether it ends differently....that could be intriguing and I've seen it done well elsewhere. So I floated the idea.
