Was just thinking about this and maybe someone can develop a story with this plotline.
MC is cursed - with always being happy.
How can being happy be a curse?
Possibilities:
-may have severe chronic pain that no one believes exists because he is always happy
-may end up estranged from family and friends due to his always being happy even in extremely sad circumstances (death of family member maybe)
-may end up imprisoned and convicted of a murder he did not commit because no one believed him due to his happiness even under questioning about the murder

Those are just 3 possibilities that I came up with...

In all honesty, i think this is a good plot to create a character like batman's "joker"

Just to go out on a bit of a rant on this topic....

To me loud psychopaths can be scary of course but quiet psychopaths are way scarier.

Take the series "banshee" that was on some years ago.

if anyone remembers it, there were two characters "kai" and an accountant-like character i forget the name to.

In "Kai's" case the first time i was scared by him was when he was eating dinner with one of his underlings that failed him and then he suddenly pulled out a butcher's knife and chopped off the guys fingers to feed one to his cannibal dog.

I don't know the name of the actor but he kept a great neutral poker face through out all of that.

Then there was the accountant who was mild mannered as clark kent. Well he went to collect some money from someone on behalf of his boss. But the guy blew this guy off.

At this point the accountant simply takes off his glasses and steps inside the trailer.

After that well, while the camera stays outside the trailer you can clearing hear the sounds of all hell breaking out one sidedly inside the trailer.

Personally i thought the accountant character was written beautifully as a quiet psychopath archetype...

There's an old porn film that grazes on this topic: For the Love of Pleasure (1979).

A thief is shot and killed in the act and wakes in an afterlife where he is encouraged to have sex with a series of beautiful women. When he's too tired to continue his guide forces his to do so anyway. When he complains he's told "Who said this was heaven?".

Well the reason i brought up the examples i did was because i think that the answer to the original post is yes but also i think a lack of all emotion can be a curse as well.

The character of the joker from batman comics i think at the very least could be called someone "cursed with happiness"

Though i think with any character cursed with happiness needs to have periods of lucidity to show the disconnect between outward emotions and what they're thinking.

An inner monologue i think its called.

Also i think overall a joker character is easier to write as a character cursed by happiness because who here hasn't seen a printed batman comic?
