A question of how you would write this? 1/30/23

Okay let's say you're on the one holding a captive during a kidnapping and ransom situation and while a separate party is negotiating with the people who want your captive back what happens during that time between you and the people watching you closely?

I'm talking some good quality high jinks like one of my personal favorites.

Sending someone out with snacks to the ones watching you like in Beverly hills cop...

I wouldn't do it that way, I wouldn't write it that way.

If I were going to write that kind of situation at all, I would have the kidnapper holding the hostage somewhere that would make it extremely difficult to watch closely.

ETA:

Thinking about it, I've reconsidered a bit. The only situation where I can see myself writing it that way is if the kidnapper is the antagonist rather than the protagonist and I intend to have the protagonist stage a hostage rescue rather than pay the ransom.

Well, for a different take on that style of story, try reading "The Ransom of Red Chief", by O. Henry.

It is a short story, written in 1907 so is in the public domain.

Thanks for the clarification.

Do the watchers know where you're holding the captive, or are they following you in the hope you'll lead them to him/her/it?

So I assume, the point of view is of someone, who had been given a captive person for holding while there's negotiations about her price. They also know the other party is resourceful enough to likely have a follow on the captive, so extreme caution is advised.

And the point is? To have fun times with said captive? That's trilling, but extremely unreasonable. Then, the guard could be just that arrogant, or use interesting holding techniques on the captive.

Or even, play the good cop trying to extract cooperation from said captive. Probably to the point she's warning me that her people are sneaking around. Either through just me having learned her that good, and/or her caring about me already (Stockholm and all that stuff).

So now it's suddenly "we" on the run from people who are trying to free her, or in her altered state, to take her away from her new owner.

Actually this is a strange adventure in a multi adventure harem story i'm working on to reveal security flaws in the hero's building.

In short:
A vampire comes in to put the hero under hypnotism to sign over the building to his company (isn't it strange that vampires usually take a secondary role of rotten scoundrel business people?)

anyway, it went badly for the vampire since one of the girls brutally killed him in a way that would make a marine instructor proud and then they eventually end up capturing the boss.

And you can't exactly just let the boss go because where would the fun be in that?

So eventually the boss's boss (who's a woman) calls and the hero asks the immortal question which i thought was "what do you want me to do with your subordinate?"

Hence the quandary i've come to in the original post which admittedly i probably didn't explain it as well as i should have.

So... now we have a small human fortress with capable defenders holding a vampire captain capture, and besieged by his queen.

And?

@LupusDei

basically the queen wants the vampire captain back (for unspecified reasons), they negotiate and after i started laying it out i was wondering if it was a little too cut and dry....
