I ready the story at least 4 years ago so I could be wrong on some details. Story starts of at a resort in Australia when the MC (I believe is a female) goes a portal and ends up in a magical universe. After learning they have magic, the MC eventually becomes one of the strongest magic users in that universe.
If I remember correctly this story is a part of a universe, but I looked and nothing jumps out at me hinting that it's the one I'm looking for.
Possibly could be one of Kris Me's Amity series stories where some of the MCs go thru magical portals to other locations or planets.
Amity #5 - Cataclasm has several MCs but the first MC is Crystal who finds a portal in a cave under a waterfall on a Great Barrier Reef island resort, and finds bling that makes her a wizard level mage. She has about eight to ten chapters before the story shifts to another MC ... but is brought back into the action after the other MCs are brought in ... ala some Tom Clancy novels.
You're welcome ... but y'know Kris Me tied many of his stories together so to get full understanding of all that's occurring, you'll need to go back and read not just the earlier 4 Amity books, but also the 2 Delta books, The Job, and At A Price ...
At least he gives a suggested reading order ... so enjoy ....
