Old Story Similar to RPG

Sparky-1953 ๐Ÿšซ

I read this story over 10 years ago and think it was older. Mixed gender group of teens transported to world of magic and dragons. There are dragons of different colors. I seem to remember quests, possibly one to slay the yellow dragon, and the teens evolving into different roles. If you remember this story and it's from a different site just reply with the name and "elsewhere". Thanks

I have read the story and I think on this site.Four teens ,a brother and sister and two friends play a role play game after selecting characters and end up in that word.It was sometime in 2004 or afterwards. No idea name or author.

I vaguely remember one like that. Does one of the boys decide to stay in the fantasy we world, and his real world body die?

A possibility in dead tree is The Sleeping Dragon: Book One of The Guardians of the Flame by Joel Rosenberg

It was Dragonseekers. Thank you's to all who mentioned it here or PM'd me. As for Mr. Rosenberg, I particularly enjoyed his series about the Norse gods, Keepers of the Hidden Ways, and wish he'd finished it.

Guardians of the Flame takes place on a university campus. While technically still teens (probably, I can't recall what year they were in), they were written more as adults.

Anne McCaffrey(sp) "Dragon riders of Pern". I think there are 5 books in the series. I killed a tree reading it before Dan Quayle invented the internet

Time for an update, itsmehonest. I knew there were more than twice that number but was shocked to find out there are now 25 Pern novels and 2 collections of short stories. Anne wrote about 15-17 herself. Collaberated with her son on some more and he's written a few more since she passed 10 years ago.

Took me a years and several trilogies to finally get tired of that universe.

https://storiesonline.net/s/35639/first-impressions by https://storiesonline.net/a/Gary_Jordan is a kind of fanfic of Dragonriders. It won Golden Clitorides for Long Story of the Year in 2002.

If I remember correctly my exposure to Pern was a short story about Lessa and her being Searched by the Dragonriders when it appeared in one of the Sci-Fi mags of the 60s-70s. I have all of her books, some of her son's early ones, and a couple of collections of shorts. I haven't kept up with the latest books. I think my depression-related ADD has been kicking up as I don't sit down and read near as much as I used to before I retired.
