There is a story about a nephew inheriting his uncle's estate after he is presumed dead. While exploring the grounds, his uncle comes to him to explain why he faked his death. There was a cave that had a hidden entrance to the house and a female government agent. I don't remember much other than that, though I think there was some supernatural power. But I could be mistaken on that part.
Are you sure it was an Uncle who faked the death? In one of Dual Writer's Florida Friends stories Chuck Johnston is a government agent and he gets called to protect some young relatives because it's thought his aunt is dead. It happens in a place called Cut Bank.
Ernest, are you sure that's a "Florida Friends" story? It's been several years since I've read the series, but that description rings no bells. (In those several years, my bell has been rung too many times. So I just may have forgotten the story!)

It where Chuck and Lisa have his aunt and his nieces join the group after the run in with the paramilitary group in Cut Bank and he sees a wanted deserter in the court. Were there aliens living in the cave that the nephew ended up helping as they were dying from air pollution? I seem to recall such as story but for the life of me I can't recall the name…
No, I know it was a nephew who inherited. And it wasn't aliens or elves in the cave. In fact, the cave was empty and light free, because at one point, the lights go out and the nephew has to navige in the pure darkness.

Honestly, I am not sure. I just remembered that at one point the uncle and nephew spoke to a female agent in the cave.
