As noted in the subject I don't have much to go on but I have seen you masters of answer here do wonders be for. I was reading a different and a part came to me and now that is all I can think about.
I have one piece that is stuck in my head. The MC is in a flower garden practicing with his sword and ends up cutting off all of the flowers.
I've not checked to be sure, but when I first read this the first, and so far only, story that came to mind was Sword Saint by Shaddoth - I think it's about a thir to half way in when he's in the city.

In ch 34 the MC cuts up a bunch of insects while practicing but no flowers...so far. Definitely a good read though...again! :)
In the same town the MC cut all the flowers, he fought a beast that was killing off the towns children. The local guards were corrupted and covering it up.
I know the story, but my mind is blanking for the title.

This sounds like a story I just read recently, but I can't remember the title or author. I'm not even sure it was on here or if it was on Kindle Unlimited. If the story I'm thinking about is the same as you, the scene you describe is when the MC is traveling to return a princess that was kidnapped/detained back to her father. They are stopped over in a town near the border and staying with the guy in charge of the town. The MC is in the prized garden of this guy and is practicing his ability to speed up his reflexes so he sees things in fine detail and slow motion. He starts just slicing a leaf off a plant and ends up doing the same to all the leaves, leaving the garden a mess. I think this is about 1/3 of the way into the story, but I'm not sure.
I know it's not much more to go on, but I hope it helps.

That sounds like the story. I'm sure that I read it here but I will have to check my Kindle just to be sure.

I just checked my recent stories on here and Ernest was right, that was the story I was thinking of. And as dsclink3 said, the part about destroying the garden is in Chapter 47 "I had decimated his garden leaf by leaf"

The scene stuck in my minds when I read the story. Since I do not read much in the sword and sorcery genre I had little to pick from. Although I hadn't read that story for about 4 years it's a memorable scene.
