An old story, probably on SOL, and a major character (maybe or maybe not the main character), establishes trade among nearby villages. I do not recall whether it is alternative history or time-travel or some other genre. Could be post-apoc, I suppose. Tribal-type communities. Do not recall whether the girl was from a visiting tribe. I realize this not much to go on - barely more than there was this story with a girl in it. But it's all I remember; she established trade, and the trade led to more civilization, I think.
