Marine sniper finds a gf while running a fun run and she is also a marine. They become a sniper team. lots of crazy things happen across multiple stories, including him being captured by the enemy, a crazy ex who destroys his house, a trip across the country as civilization falls apart, can't remember it all.

Might it be the series by Banzai Ben? I remembr it starts out something like that, but I didn't get far befor giving up.
