Aubie56 has written a bunch of westerns, I think some may have had an Indian love interest. Lazlong "Wagons Ho" series had several half-breed Indians as lovers (in several families).

There are a couple of stories by Lubrican. How Ronny Throckmorton Was Saved From The Indians which is not quite what you are asking for, and The Cowboy Who Didn't Speak Indian which seems to match.

I forget the author, but "An unremarkable day" and "An unremarkable town" would also be candidates.

Try "Finding Peace" by Celtic Cowboy. It does have a time travel element but still a good story with Indians
