This may be more than one story but I don'y think so.
Man is having marital problems, boss agrees to fire him and use him on contract out of the country to thwart wife. After a period of years he come back and is sent to Toronto (I think) to head up a company they have purchased that is in distress. He meets the widow of the former leader of the company and they rescue the company and sparks fly between them.
I can't remember if that plot is one story or two.
