this is an obscure one pls help

this story is about a guy who develops a machine that accidentally sends him to an alternate universe and transforms his appearance to look like Sephiroth and he is given a sword by default it is a high fantasy setting.

sorry no not the one it was from 10 years ago I believe maybe more I just can't remember the author or the name of the story

the guy literally has himself transported and remade by accident and wids on on this world with active gods and magic and an ongoing war.
