Talented quarterback whose mom has cancer. He changes schools so he can be near her. She dies the day of his first college game. Next year he goes to Kentucky (lives at the Ferguson's) Dates their daughter (Beth). Changes schools for final year(Alabama). Goes pro without an agent. Discovers he has a daughter with old high school girlfriend. Gets his law degree. I can't remember the title or author to save my life.

Also looking for a pre civil war story "Winds" that as vanished from the sight.

Not the one I'm looking for (though I have read this one before). Main character (air plane malfunction) rescues plantation owner and daughter (after time travel) and after a few years has multiple plantations (named winds 1, winds 2 etc. It was first published in a series of novels, then combined into one story. At the end of one of the novels there is a slave revolt and he mistakenly thinks that his wife has been killed. He married the plantation owners daughter and also supplies seaman to her half sister (mothered by slave). He blows up a building he is in to kill a traitor that he had befriended.

It was posted then removed then reposted and is gone again. It is quite lengthy. When it was reposted it was attached to another story.

The Civil War one could be Winds of Change by h20wader. He pulled it to publish it elsewhere and it has disappeared from view never to be seen for love, money, or pleading. He has not been here for a while(premier only now)

They were Winds I, II, and maybe III by H2oWader. He's pulled most of his stories to possibly publish.
