Not a lost story but does anyone know what happened to Apeman? Also, although he quit posting in 2005 due to some harassment and has deleted his e-mail, I think Exalphageek still lurks because his stories are still free. I'd love to see his Djinni story finished. Not holding my breath though.

@Sparky-1953

Exalphageek's stories still being free means he has logged on here in the last 5 years. No "email address" means that he does not want feedback, or that he has not logged on for at least one year.

@Dinsdale

Rache hasn't been with us since 2012 and her stories are still available to all. I'm glad Lazeez has apparently made some exceptions.

The more likely explanation is that someone logged in with her account within the past five years.

She had some unposted stories which her brother has been posting for her on a schedule she left him. Don't know if they're all posted yet or not.

Somebody - her brother? - is definitely still using her account, the email is still active and that gets chopped after one year inactivity.

(Found this note on her other site.) On or about 16 Sept 2012 a number of Rachael's email accounts were compromised by persons unknown. I found out when I tried to access the email account she'd set up for me as the administrator of her site. The passwords were changed and in truth I only rarely accessed those accounts anyway, just to see if anyone had questions or concerns that I could help with. My worry now is that someone might be using those accounts to injure Rachael's memory.

If you've tried to contact me and have gotten no response, or a reply that may seem questionable, that's the reason.

Rachael was very clear that she didn't want to just turn off her email. She felt that it was important that readers be able to express themselves even if there wasn't anyone at the other end. Feedback, she insisted, was part of the storytelling process. For her, I believe that it was. Exactly how and why her accounts were hacked is very disturbing and I'm still looking for the best way to deal with the situation. Nothing about rache was ever simple.

I hope I don't speak out of turn but I think that is one of many reasons why so many of us love her stories.

She was one to do things her way and if you think something as death would stop her from doing it her way then .......

Unless that story was by rache, then I might review it. There are exceptions to nearly every rule.

It was a woman knocking on the door. Duh!

Could be. Or a tax collector...

Since the last man on earth is in the room, it would have to be a woman tax collector.

Tax collectors are human?
(not that I don't agree with you)

Tax collectors are human?

Human or not, unless they are robots, they probably come in male and female.

It was a woman knocking on the door. Duh!

Given the options of it being:

A. A woman,

B. A robot,

C. A time displaced version of himself,

D. A time traveller,

E. An Alien,

it was most likely (A) A woman who is ready to read him the riot act for cleaning up his local area properly.

"Knock" by Fredric Brown.
