Pretty sure the story you are after is "Close Encounters of the 5th Kind" by "The SlutMan" (pretty sure there is no space in that) but he took down all of his works. I tried doing a search and didn't find any matches online.

Most of the stories are still accessible on ASSTR, but you have to use the FTP interface, and pretty much know at least the author.
The archive.org snapshot seems to be missing chapters 16,17 & 18. Anyone have a link for the missing chapters?
