I remember thee main character is in high school and helps make the family whiskey. He then goes to college and works with a girl in the bookstore. Her brother tries to kill him and gets sent to jail. He then meets the girl's grandmother then finds out she has been buying the family whiskey for years. They all move to his home town and he becomes a local lawyer.
