Story Similar to Service Society

Sparky-1953 ๐Ÿšซ

Back around the time that Lazlo Zalezac's Service Society first came out I read a story with somewhat similar aspects. One thing that sticks in my mind was when the M/C leaves his job (quit/forced out/fired) he gives his boss (and maybe some other execs) a small pail of beach sand and a toy hammer, a non-verbal comment to them to go pound sand. I think he may have been in the software or computer industry but I'm not sure.

Artie wrote a story along the lines of Service Society at the same time, it was called "Ref Code 21304" which was supposed to be the code for his complaint in the database. I don't remember the sand and the hammer being in there.
A central part of the plot was that 21304 was the wrong number, the person entering his details had been distracted by a woman walking past with enough perfume to wage chemical warfare.
Artie posted on AssTr and he pulled all of his stories in late 2011.

I have a copy of it and believe i can share it with you. If interested send me a message using the sites messaging feature. I am referring to Artie's story.

Cheers

@rustyken

Thanks for the offer but I have a copy on a thumb drive. Unfortunately, I don't think that's the one. I've read it within the last few years and it didn't ring the bell. My worst issue with Artie stories is that my copy of Open Clinic is corrupted and the only copies I can find online are incomplete.

Open Clinic was never completed, just as Time of Arrival was also never completed.
Open Clinic got to 12 chapters, is that what you have?
Artie had it posted as html, pdf and epub.

I had all 12 but all I can find on The Wayback Machine is 1-3 or 4. It lists up to 11 but all the rest can't be retrieved.

That's strange, I just found all 12. You have to find the archived page dated 15. October 2011.

@Zellus

You must be using different search parameters than me. The most recent capture I can find is March, 2011. Here's my search string: http://www.asstr.org/files/Authors/artie/www/stories.html.

You need to put the address in the wayback machine:
