Thanks in advance for your help. I m looking for a story where father, daughter and mc 's jobs involve responding to car and train accidents by later clearing out the contents of the vehicles. Unfortunately I don't recall anything else at the moment. Story is several years old.

The only one I've read that even comes close is one of Wes Boyd's over on his site, but I can't remember the name. It's likely not the one you're looking for, though.

I too thought it was Wes Boyd, it turns out he wrote a story by the same title. I thought that was the story until I opened it up.
The closest of Wes Boyd's stories to the description above is The Last Place You Look but it's not a clean fit. The MC is an EMT and attends an accident where he meets up with an old classmate and her daughter who are well down on their luck. Part of the story covers the problems with collecting her gear from the car. The MC and the woman connect and later marry.
