Looking for an old dead tree book

meangene ๐Ÿšซ

I read this book back in the late 60's. It was a post apocalyptic type book about a twin city type area in the eastern part of the country. It took place during and after a nuclear exchange and was about the problems with rebuilding afterward. It was not Alas, Babylon by Patrick Frank. Which,by the way is still one of my all time favorites. Any help appreciated.

The only title I'm familiar in that vein is from 1959, A Canticle for Leibowicz. I've never read it myself, but it might fit...

Not that one but thanks. You posting about a well known book tickled something in my poor OLD brain and made me remember it was by a well known author. Well, well known if you are my age. This led to finding the title, it was Tomorrow by Philip Wylie published in 1954.

Another one from that era is Farnham's Freehold by Heinlein, but it's not city based.

It may also be worth checking out the list of notable works at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocalyptic_and_post-apocalyptic_fiction. Scroll down to War, then novels.

Edit: Just read the whole thread and saw that you had already found it.
